After dedicating the past eight years of my career to higher education administration, I’m embarking on a new adventure: Building AI products for teaching and learning. I’m heading back to my ed tech roots and I’m beyond excited.
So, I spent the the majority of this weekend diving back into the world of ed psyc and ed tech. I created myself a learning plan and down the rabbit (memory) hole I go…
This brought me back to the moment when I first fell in love with education. I was sitting in my first undergraduate class ever – a 400 person introduction to biology course – and the professor quoted William Butler Yeats in this syllabus:
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
That was it. I was hooked. In a sea of students, it felt as if Professor T was speaking directly to me. I felt the flame of passion spark, and that quote set me on the path to building my career in education.
And this weekend, I could feel the spark of passion flicker and light.
